Route description to the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering

The main building of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, called Landbouwinstituut, is situated in Kasteelpark Arenberg, building number 20. You can find the 'Kasteelpark Arenberg' along the K. Mercierlaan in Heverlee. The Faculty also has buildings in 'Willem de Croylaan' and in 'Celestijnenlaan', both also in Heverlee. The Faculty also disposes of a Centre of Fruit Culture ('Fruitteeltcentrum') and an Experimental Farm for Animal Breeding ('Zoötechnisch Centrum'). Besides, some research is conducted at the Greenhouses and the Labec ('Leuven Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Centre').

 

Route description to Kasteelpark Arenberg, Willem de Croylaan 42 and Celestijnenlaan 200

Route to the faculty

Coming by car

Coming from Brussels or Liège

  • Take highway E40 (Brussels - Liège/Luik) in the direction of Leuven. Take exit Leuven/Hasselt/Genk (E314). Take the first exit Leuven (Exit 15). You will reach the Koning Boudewijnlaan, a four-lane highway. At the third set of traffic lights, turn right into the Celestijnenlaan.
  • To Kasteelpark Arenberg
    In the Celestijnenlaan go straight ahead, past the pedestrian crossing until the bridge over the river Dijle, after approximately 1 km. Take left and enter 'Kasteelpark Arenberg' immediately after the bridge. Follow the river Dijle, keeping the castle at your left and take the parking lot on your right-hand side. It is advised to leave your car here, because the rest of the park is only accessible for vehicles with a parking card. To go to Kasteelpark Arenberg 20 (Landbouwinstituut), continue following the river Dijle on foot until you see the main building of the Faculty on your right.
  • To Willem de Croylaan 42
    At the end of the Celestijnenlaan you will reach a T-junction. Turn right, then turn right again immediately before the railroad-crossing. The first building on your left side is number 42.
  • To Celestijnenlaan 200
    In the Celestijnenlaan take the second street to the right. You will arrive at your destination. The Geo-institute is situated in building E. You can find a parking lot by following this map.
  • To the Greenhouses and the Labec
    These infrastructures are situated close to the Celestijnenlaan. In the Celestijnenlaan go straight ahead, past the pedestrian crossing until the bridge over the river Dijle, after approximately 1 km. You will see the Greenhouses on your right hand side. Take the parking lot overthere.

Coming from Hasselt/Genk/Aken/Maastricht

  • Take highway E314 Aken/Leuven. Take exit 15, direction Leuven. You will reach the Koning Boudewijnlaan, a four-lane highway. At the third set of traffic lights, turn right into the Celestijnenlaan.

Coming from the Leuven belt way

At the traffic lights of the Naamse Poort, turn in the direction of Namen but take the right lane to go straight in the Kardinaal Mercierlaan. This is a one-way lane heading to the Kantineplein. On entering the square take a right. At the Castle turn right and take the parking lot on your right. It is advised to leave your car here, because the rest of the park is only accessible for vehicles with a parking card. To go to Kasteelpark Arenberg 20 (Landbouwinstituut) continue following the river Dijle on foot until you see the main building of the Faculty on your right.

Coming by train

Take the train to Leuven Station. You can consult the train schedule on the NMBS website.

At the railway station you can take the bus or the train to Heverlee. If you would like to go to the Celestijnenlaan 200, we suggest to take the bus.

By Train to Heverlee

At Leuven station you take the train to Wavre/Ottignies. Heverlee is the first stop. From Heverlee station it is a 10 minutes walk. Take the Sint-Lambertusstraat towards the church 'Sint-Lambertus'. Cross the 'Waversebaan', go straight on and follow 'Vandenbemptlaan' (turns to the left) till you reach a small square 'Kantineplein'.

  • Would you like to go to the Kasteelpark Arenberg?
    Look for the castle and take the driveway to the castle (Kasteelpark Arenberg 1). To go to Kasteelpark Arenberg 20 (Landbouwinstituut) turn right at the castle. Follow the river Dijle until you see at your right, next to the road the main building of the Faculty.
  • Would you like to go the Willem de Croylaan 42?
    To go to Willem de Croylaan 42, cross the square (Kantineplein), look for the castle, facing the castle turn left, go straight on at the traffic lights. The first building at your right after the wall of the Campus Library Arenberg (CBA) is Willem de Croylaan 42.

 

By Bus

At Leuven Station, take bus line 2 (CAMPUS on the front).

  • Would you like to go to the Kasteelpark Arenberg or Willem de Croylaan?
    Get of the bus at the stop 'Kantien' (Kantineplein), in front of the restaurant 'Oude Kantien'.
    • Would you like to go to the Kasteelpark Arenberg?
      Look for the castle and take the driveway to the castle (Kasteelpark Arenberg 1). To go to Kasteelpark Arenberg 20 (Landbouwinstituut) turn right at the castle. Follow the river Dijle until you see at your right, next to the road the main building of the Faculty.
    • Would you like to the Willem de Croylaan 42?
      To go to Willem de Croylaan 42, cross the square (Kantineplein), look for the castle, facing the castle turn left, go straight on at the traffic lights. The first building at your right after the wall of the Campus Library Arenberg (CBA) is Willem de Croylaan 42.
  • Would you like to go to the Celestijnenlaan 200?
    Get of the bus at the final stop. This is the Celestijnenlaan 200. The Geo-institute is situated in building E.

 

Route description to the Experimental Farm for Animal Breeding

On highway E40 (Brussels-Luik/Liège) take exit 23 (Haasrode, Bierbeek, Oud-Heverlee). Take direction Haasrode and go straight on direction Tienen. At the T-junction with the 'Tiensesteenweg' turn right, direction Tienen. After the junction 'dorp Korbeek-Lo', take the second street right. This cobbled street is the Bijzondere Weg. When the cobblestones end, turn onto the country lane turning to the right end follow it until you reach the Experimental Farm for Animal Breeding ('Zoötechnisch Centrum').

 

Route description to the Centre of Fruit Culture

Coming from Brussels or Liège

  • Exit the E40 onto the E314 (A2), direction Aken(Aachen)/Genk/Hasselt.
  • On the E314, take exit 22 (Aarschot/Sint-Joris-Winge) and turn left at the first traffic lights onto the N223, direction Aarschot.
  • After 600 m, turn right at the first traffic lights. This is the entry road to the E314, direction Leuven.
  • After 200 m in the curve of the entry road, turn left onto the Rillaarse Baan.
  • Take the fourth street at your right side = Steenberg.
  • Follow Steenberg downhill till the last building on the left-hand side. This is the Centre of Fruit Culture ('Fruitteeltcentrum').

Coming from Hasselt/Genk/Aken/Maastricht

  • Take exit 22 (Aarschot/Sint-Joris-Winge) and, in the curve of the exit road, turn right onto the Rillaarse Baan.
  • Take the fourth street at your right side = Steenberg.
  • Follow Steenberg downhill till the last building on the left hand side. This is the Centre of Fruit Culture ('Fruitteeltcentrum').
